I have just noticed MDM have announced Flash Candy which compiles swf's as an active desktop for windows machines. It is apparently tightly integrated with their Studio Pro software for creating desktop applications with Flash.

A few sites have really excited me recently and this new offering for BMW 5 Series uses Flash to play huge chunks of video as a backdrop to the elegant navigation. It takes a while to download you certainly need a pretty fast connection to avoid boredom setting in, but luckily there is a compact version without the video clips provided as well.

Just read this article which explains how Apple have manipulated data to mislead customers about the true speed of the new G5.

This site just blew me away, it's a little bit download intensive but the 3d camera panning is worth the wait!

I'm back after a week looking at Volcanoes and Geysers in New Zealand and just been offered a web design job in Sydney, so should be starting in a couple of weeks or so. That means I will have more time to update my blog as I've been pretty slack recently!

I have finally decided that I am going to teach myself Coldfusion, so I bought a book. I thought I would ease myself in with ColdFusion MX with Dreamweaver MX I have started to read it but I am currently in New Zealand renewing my Australian visa so can't try out the coding examples but the book is very well written and so far the theory makes sense, so fingers crossed maybe it just might sink in...

While I was updating freaksauce.com I came across a problem with the Color Picker component. It seems that if you try use it in a swf that is loaded into a movieClip using movieClip.loadMovie("myMovie.swf"); it doesn't work. I posted a thread on Were-here.com and received a response from Clint Critchlow. He informed me that if I loaded the movie into a level instead it would fix the problem. Indeed it did, but this is a rather annoying workaround, I thought the idea of components were that they work in all circumstances?!

Well I know version 1 hasn't been up long but I get bored easily as you can probably tell considering this weblog has been redesigned 3 times already in the past couple of months! So here it is freaksauce, now with XML generated sub menus to save me changing the source file all the time when I want to update my portfolio.

My brother posted this little poetry generator he found. Here are a couple of extracts of freaksauce as a poem:

...I have been reading
an agreement to replace
my test takers
and Dutch giant Philips
Electronics plan
to replace my Yahoo email account
and DVD recorder,
Sony have sold its
Entertainment Business to read ads
but never seen this is a little beauty
a good of design and now
it shipped
from home no shit!

and this:

with his Nokia! :: will
apparently higher than anything
previously shown. The additions:
With plans to be literally months
after shameless boasting about
my test though,
Mike, JD? :: Jonathan 12:2003 ::
I have announced yet
another new
book, with Actionscript

have I?!

I noticed over at Moik78.com that García-Consuegra Diez has also taken a couple of the free tests on offer. I wondered if anyone else has had a chance to try out the Flash MX certification? If you click throught the add over at quasimondo you get a free test offer for one of the subscription list.
