Saw a link on Gizmodo to this article on NASA's site about Liquidmetal, which is an alloy blend more than twice as strong as titanium, but softer and more elastic. Apparently a landmark discovery was made during a research project with vitrified metals in 1992 which led to Liquidmetal being tested onboard four Space Shuttle missions and later used to make the solar wind collector tiles on NASA's Genesis spacecraft. The first commercial product to be made from LiquidMetal? Golf Clubs.
