John Peel has suffered a fatal heart attack while on holiday in Peru at the age of 65.

This is so sad he was probably the most liked Radio DJ in Radio 1 history and was even part of Radio 1 when it launched back in 1967. His eclectic music taste and freedom to play all types of music has launched many bands careers.

"He was a lifeline to hearing music I would never have heard otherwise. The service he provided was getting to hear music that you couldn't buy in Cardiff. He was a portal to a whole new world." - James Dean Bradfield, lead singer of the Manic Street Preachers.
