Just a word of warning about MBNA - the folks who offer this credit card.
I got their Linux card last year due to the great low interest rate and transferred a higher interest rate balance to it (always fun). I then proceeded to make minimum payments (still more fun) while paying off another higher interest rate card.
Anyway, after doing this for a few months suddenly I noticed my interest rate - my LOCKED interest rate - had jumped from 6.9% to apx 20%. I was shocked. I hadn't missed any payments and hadn't broken any rules. What gives?
So I called and complained - what did they tell me? That I wasn't paying my bill AGRESSIVELY enough. To be an agressive payer I would have had to pay 3x my minimum payment each month.
Since I was not aggressive they cranked my rate up and then wouldn't bring it back down to its old rate - though after enough griping on my part they did drop it to 14%.
Beware MBNA.
Needless to say, I closed that account and paid it off in full as soon as I could.
