Check out this streaming Flash video of a "processing based program that reads incoming video from a camera and triggers particles from points of the video frame that have changed by a certain level. The result is an image that is fairly representative, yet disappears within moments."

Very nice

Here are a few reasons to avoid Allan's music in Pitt Street, Sydney.

  1. You will be served by arrogant retards who think they are superior even though it is obvious they are all failed musicians

  2. If you buy sheet music and then try to return it the next day in perfect condition due to finding it was not really what you (or he/she if it was a present) expected and having purchased music on many previous occasions - you will be told "NO" by management and accused of pirating the material

  3. Having purchased the book you will then be subjected to a half-arsed search by some part-time security guard at the front door who looks through all your bags and doesn't check the receipt to even see if the items match, in other words everyone is a presumed a petty criminal until he says different

  4. If you try and enter with a secured lid drink, the part-time security guard will hold out his authoratitive arm and say "Hey, finish you drink first" at which point, if you are like me you will reply "piss off" and never return to the crappy shop again. And let me just point out that I am offended by the manner in which I was asked to finish my drink not by the actual rule

  5. A pack of D'addario EJ16's will set you back $19, when you can buy a 3 pack online at the nice blokes at StringOut for $45.50 a saving of $4 a pack.

So if you are thinking of purchasing anything from Allan's music, Pitt Street, Sydney then I would think again and maybe think about looking for online solutions. For example if you wish to buy strings go to the previously mentioned StringOut and for online sheet music Amazon has an amazing range as does sheetmusic.com and the extra shipping cost is worth it just so you don't contribute to Allan's Music.

Rant over.

update
If you fancy a bit of a giggle read the 3rd comment, it had me crying with laughter thankyou whoever you are for making my day!

UPDATE 2
Billy Hyde's on Paramatta road, Camperdown is only a short ride out of the city and has friendly and helpful staff as well as a pretty good range of guitars. A little further down the road is Jackson's Rare guitars who are also very friendly (but pricey!) and then another new shop just a few doors down called Gallin's for all things Gibson, Epiphone and Martin. All friendly, all helpful and all worth a visit!

I don't know how many people will ever need to use this code to be honest as most people would use php, cfm etc to do the work and rightly so, but I am working with some legacy code that needed a quick fix. The problem was retrieving url variables using Javascript, the solution was this excellent function posted by podlob on the SitePoint forum.

Melbourne Cup day comes but once a year and for the second year running I picked the Winner, well to be precise I picked the same horse both years. Ladies and Gentlemen give it up for Makybe Diva!

Unfortunately I didn't have time to go to the TAB so I placed a bet online at BlueSQ and now they won't let me log back in because of some hacker attempt or something?! Hope my money is safe!!!!

Well it has finally launched, homehound, I completely re-coded the front end to try and make it valid xhtml 1.0 transitional and css layout. There are a few issues as some data is pulled from 3rd party sites and therefore I have no control over things like invalid break tags.
