Adobe Type Manager sucks on the PC, that's a fact I had to live with until recently. When I was on OS X I had Extensis Suitcase doing the hard work for me and when I switched back I was very unimpressed with the outdated Adobe software on my work machine so I found a great alternative. Enter FontHit, this freeware font manager is a piece of cake to use you can even drag and drop zip files onto the interface to install or preview the font. It's simple and effective and once the next release comes out in the next couple of weeks there should be a fix for the slightly strange bug which prevents windows from shutting down without manually exiting the application in the system tray.

I have just uploaded a new version of my portfolio site freaksauce.com it's pretty basic but it does the job and gave me a chance to play with AS2 and PHPObject. I also designed myself a new logo so it looks like the old blog might need a fresh lick of paint soon too so I can update my favicon!

I have just noticed that Renault F1 have updated their website for the 2005 season, they are without a doubt the F1 leaders when it comes to the web, you only have to look at the sorry state of Mclaren's site to see how far behind the competition is. There is extensive use of Flash Video throughout which makes the experience a lot more engaging. I just hope they bring back the live telemetry flash app as I didn't get a chance to try it last season!

I thought I would share a story of something that happened on the the way to work.

I was sitting on the train which also happens to be the Airport line to Sydney Airport and an old couple got on with their suitcases and preceeded to sit next to me and opposite. I reckon they were in their early 70's. The man turns to his wife and said, "Now you're sure you have got the tickets?" to which she replied, "It's ok love I booked it on the internet we don't need any". The man then says, "But you have the print out?" and she replies, "yes, but that is just for our records, don't worry." and then shot a grin at me, as if to say "Welcome to the 21st Century Granpa!". He sat there with his eyebrows raised and a look of 'I hope you're right!'
