G3 is something I've wanted to go to for a long time, if it had existed when I was 16 I would have already been to every possible tour because I'm a guitar geek! I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I have been to a couple of Joe Satriani gigs with my brother over the years and even seen Steve Vai do a 30 minute solo spot at the Donnington Monsters of Rock Festival in 1990! Anyway, tomorrow night G3 is coming to Sydney and I managed to score a free ticket, woohoo!P.S. I can't believe Joe was 50 this year!!!!

Last night I went to the premiere of Borat - Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan in Sydney. I've never been to premiere before, it was funny being in the cinema with TV presenters and people from Dancing with the Stars (oh yeah they celebrity royalty really turned out in force...!) not quite the Hollywood premiere but that didn't matter because Borat was there in person wearing a cork hat running up and down the isles doing high fives. He did a few minutes introduction before the film started which was hilarious and then the main feature... funniest film I've seen in years!Jon 9:47 AM Permalink

I saw this journal entry at Last FM and thought it sounded like a fun experiment so here are the results of my life as a random soundtrack:Opening credits: End of the road - The Quantic Soul Orchestra (hmmm.. interesting start)
Waking up: The battle of evermore - Led Zeppelin (Waking up is always a battle)
First day of school: War - Joe Satriani (And it's all out war!)
Falling in love: Poor Misguided Fool - Starsailor (probably the funniest of the lot)
First Song: Go To Sleep - Radiohead (good advice...)
Fight Song: You Shook Me - Led Zepplin (hmm... Shake song?)
Breaking Up: 8 Men Strong - The Herbaliser (deep)
Prom: Altitude - Fierce + Ryme Tyme Vip (probably most inapropriate prom song ever...)
Life: Alphabet Aerobics - Blackalicious (The A-Z of life!)
Mental Breakdown: Right Thing - DJ Shadow (quite fitting?)
Driving: You'll Be Under My Wheels - Prodigy (I shit you not!)
Flashback: Dangerous - Busta Rhymes
Getting back together: The Fool's Fooling Himself - Scott Matthews (true...true...)
Wedding: Ritual Dance - Michael Hedges (why not?!)
Birth of child: A mother for your mind - DJ Krush (I'm not making this up)
Death Scene: All Lifestyles - The Beastie Boys
Funeral Song: True To Form - Hybrid
End Credits: Reanimator - Amon Tobin (Perfect)

Well done James! In his own words:
"Just in case you don't find out any other way, I sold a story! Hurrah.
It's quite old (about 6 years and 10 rejections) so can't remember if
any of you have read it.
It's online at AtomJack

Yesterday my new MacBook Pro 2.33Ghz Core 2 Duo arrived and tonight I'm going to try and sort it out so I can start developing on it at work. The beauty of starting from scratch is that I can update my applications and maybe switch to something which fits my work profile better. To start with I'm going to buy skEdit for all my html/php/css editing I've had a play with the demo and I think its well worth the money ($24.95) and has one thing over Textmate which is the code completion for html and css, something I have found a massive timesaver in Dreamweaver.Next up I'm going to need an ftp client, none come more highly recommended at my work than Transmit, again at a bargain price of $29.95 you can't go wrong, but if you are a real tightarse there is Cyberduck which is free but lacks quite a few features of Transmit.
I'm definitely going to need a GUI for MySQL and while I really like phpMyAdmin there is a better solution, CocoaMySQL, it's free and doesn't have the obvious associated delays with an online interface and if you're impatient like me you'll really appreciate that!
Another bit of software I found yesterday is XTorrent, I haven't used it yet but it looks promising!
I'm sure I will have more to post on this subject once I start using it!
